Kirsten Dunst Announces Pregnancy in a Stunning Photoshoot with W Magazine
Actress Kirsten Dunst revealed that she is expecting her second child with husband Jesse Plemons in a special Director’s Issue of W Magazine on Monday. Wearing a signature lace dress by her favorite designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy, Dunst honors her past while making room for a new addition.
The special W magazine issue from March 30 includes all of director Sofia Coppola’s ‘muses’, as she explains in the piece. Together for one glamorous 1980s shoot, Kirsten Dunst, Rashida Jones, and Elle Fanning appeared in Valentino ballgowns, Cartier jewelry, and Miu Miu slip dresses for the cover. In the special issue, Dunst spoke about all things womanhood, being a mother, and the value of good friends.
“Every shot was on the floor,” Dunst joked to W about managing the photoshoot and her pregnancy. “I was like, ‘I can’t get up.’ I felt like Urkel.” “Dunst is shown reclining on an ornate bed wearing a custom dress by Rodarte, a considerable baby bump peeking out from the lace design by Kate and Laura Mulleavy,” Maxine Wally writes of the shoot’s ‘most impactful’ image photographed by Zoë Ghertner.
When Coppola took on her role as director for the issue, she knew she wanted to include longtime friend Dunst in the project. The two met during Coppola’s first directing role on The Virgin Suicides when Dunst was only 16-years-old and has used the now 38-year-old actress for countless roles after that.
“I think we’re all so starved for some beauty and fashion after being home,” Coppola said of her vision for the project, she had ‘florals and pearls’ in mind. “I wanted the whole thing to be feminine and fancy, because we’re too casual these days. The idea is that these women are lying around like they’re tired after trying on so many gowns.”

Known for her roles in Fargo, Spider-Man, The Virgin Suicides, and more, Dunst announced her first pregnancy in a subtle yet striking way with a simple photoshoot for Rodarte’s 2018 Fall/Winter Lookbook.
