FX ‘Pose’ Final Season 3 Trailer Has Dropped
After three seasons, the FX television series Pose will be ending and they have just released the final trailer. The emotional trailer was released on April 7, showing fans they are in for an emotion-filled ride. The Emmy award-winning show Pose had been created by Steven Canals, Brad Falchuk, and Ryan Murphy in 2018. The series has been groundbreaking, particularly for transgender representation. The show has made history countless times over, including the time Billy Porter won an Emmy for his role as Pray Tell, the first openly gay Black man, in 2019.
The trailer shows Blanca (Mj Rodriguez) tell a tear-streaked Pray Tell (Billy Porter) that his life matters. While audiences see Pray Tell overcome with emotion, Blanca is also having a hard time this season. She is a trans woman of color who is working in a hospital during the AIDS epidemic. Blanca heartbreakingly reveals, “I’m just trying to stay afloat.” This message rings true for both Pray Tell and Blanca. Porter’s character is also struggling with the effects of AIDS, a devastation Blanca has witnessed firsthand at her job. Pray Tell tells Blanca, “I knew this disease was going to eat me alive, but I am not going down without a fight.”
I think the friendship between Blanca and Pray Tell is my favorite part of #Pose. They get me everytime. pic.twitter.com/KCKmNCY42F

Amidst the devastation of AIDS that occurs in the series, audiences can also see the strong activism the characters partake in to end the stigma against the disease. The characters all come together in such a beautiful way; they prove to be a family at the end of the day. The trailer also promises to showcase the fierceness of the ballroom, where characters will serve in their outfits, truly making a statement.

The trailer also touches upon a legacy. The legacy of the show is communicated best by Steven Canals. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Canal states of the show, “At the time we weren’t seeing very many Black and Latinx characters — that happened to also be LGBTQ+ — populating screens. And so I wrote the first draft of a pilot the ‘younger me’ deserved. Pose was conceived as a love letter to the underground New York ballroom community, to my beloved New York, to my queer and trans family, to myself.”
#Pose is incredible. Shakespeare. Raw, powerful, heartbreaking, life affirming, black, queer representation. This is the TV you get when you have trans people in front & behind the camera. Watch it now on BBC iPlayer or your favourite streaming service.
