The trailer shows Walt Disney Studios’ vision for the 101 Dalmatians villain’s origin story. As de Vil’s creations turn the Baroness’s eye, de Vil begins her “killer” towards infamy. Thompson opens up the trailer by delivering the line, “Everyone else is an obstacle. You care what an obstacle wants or feels, you’re dead,” which sets into motion a dark, twisting feud between the two.

Audiences also see the juxtaposition of the Baroness’s jewels, cars, luxurious lifestyle with de Vil’s hard, manual labor, further signifying the differences between the characters. The trailer sets the mood for the upcoming film by including long looks at the fashion, makeup, and hairstyles worn by the characters.
