Wednesday, April 7, was a massive morning for Taylor Swift fans, as she suddenly released a new country-pop song, “Mr. Perfectly Fine (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)” Swift set to release Fearless (Taylor’s Album) on April 9, no one thought she would release another single.

Little did fans know that they would wake up to “Mr. Perfectly Fine (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)” the second “from the vault” track made public.

Swift posted a story to Instagram and a Twitter post containing the links to Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, and other streaming services released at 9:08 am EST. The Grammy-winning artist wanted to share this song since 2008, according to the posts.

“Mr.Perfectly Fine (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)” has reached over 1.7 million views and peaked #1 for trending on YouTube.

The country-pop-influenced song features Swift’s applaudable song-writing skills. A heart-break single, “Mr. Perfectly Fine” shares similar heart-wrenching themes similar to her song “All Too Well” from her album Red. These singles contain the phrase “casually cruel,” referencing how sometimes people may not know how rude they can be without recognizing it.

Some of the lyrics represent the high-school heartbreak of needing to feel validated, yet having to find oneself in misery.

Swift sings, “Hello, Mr. perfectly fine. How’s your heart after breaking mine? Mr. always at the right place at the right time, baby. Hello, Mr. casually cruel. Mr. everything revolves around you. I’ve been Miss misery since your goodbye. And you’re Mr. perfectly fine.”

The song speculates pettiness between her and a previous significant other as she tells of her young self. Supposedly, this song is about her 2008 boyfriend, Joe Jonas. Swift had stated to Ellen Degeneres, “When I find that person that is right for me, he’ll be wonderful. When I look at that person, I’m not even going to remember the boy who broke up with me over the phone in 27 seconds when I was 18.”

Even though she initially said this, she has stated that she regrets putting him on blast as a “mouthy” teenager in another interview with Degeneres.

Sophie Turner, who is Jonas’ wife, has an open love for Swift’s music. Posting an Instagram story, Turner captioned it, “It’s not NOT a bop.”

Swift replied to Turner’s excitedness with, “forever bending the knee to the queen of the north,” a reference to Turner’s character Sansa Stark on HBO’s Game of Thrones.

This shock comes only a few days after she surprised Swifties (the official name for her fans) with an anagram video revealing the titles of her ‘From the Vault’ singles.

“Mr.Perfectly Fine (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)” seems to be a dip in the ocean of what Swift has planned next. Be sure to stream the song on Apple Music and Spotify.
