The CW Gives Fans an Official First Look at ‘Powerpuff’

The first official look at the new Powerpuff live-action reboot from The CW shows the crime-fighting trio has ditched their iconic costumes for a more modern version. The CW reveals the first official look at the new Powerpuff live-action reboot, which shows the crime-fighting trio has ditched their iconic costumes for a more modern version. The CW revealed the first look at the adult versions of Blossom (Bennet), Bubbles (Cameron), and Buttercup (Perrault) after unofficial behind-the-scenes set photos circulated the internet which recieved criticism from fans. The new images feature the sisters dressed in a more grown-up version of the original color-block dresses.

Actress Cameron, took to Instagram on Monday, April 12, to post a photo of the trio alongside each other in their color coordinated outfits captioned, “saving the world before bedtime.”

Moreover, the first look comes after additional casting announcements. Reprising his original role as the narrator, Tom Kenny signed onto the show alongside Donald Faison as Professor Drake Utonium, Nicholas Podany as Jojo Mondel, and Robyn Lively as Sara Bellum.

In March, The CW ordered a Powerpuff pilot episode, written by Academy Award winner Diablo Cody (Juno) and Heather Regnier. However, the network has yet to call the pilot to series. Cody and Regnier will executive produce the series alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, David Madden, and Maggie Kiley. Kiley is also directing the pilot episode.

Powerpuff is based on the Craig McKracken characters of the animated television series, The Powerpuff Girls. The source material ran for 78 episodes on Cartoon Network, which also launched an animated reboot of the series in 2016. Currently, fans of The Powerpuff Girls can watch the series on Hulu.
