MARINA Releases New Single ‘Purge the Poison’
MARINA is back with new music. The singer dropped the pop anthem “Purge the Poison” with an accompanying music video on April 14. The video features MARINA dancing amidst the glitter and colorful bright lights, preaching to society to “purge the poison” from her system. As if this wasn’t enough for fans, MARINA announced her next album, Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land will be released on June 11.
“Purge the Poison” serves as the second single off Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land, as the first single had been “Man’s World,” which had been released last November. This song is much more than a pop anthem; it tackles an array of subjects in society such as capitalism, the environment, humanity, MeToo, patriarchy, and racism. In addition to these sensitive subjects, she also poses the question in the chorus of the song, “Need to purge the poison from my system / Until human beings listen / Tell me, who do you think you are?” She is encouraging listeners to take a step back and acknowledge the wrongs in society.

With Earth Day just around the corner, this is the perfect song to add to your environmental playlist. As MARINA says, “Quarantined all alone, Mother Nature’s on the phone / What have you been doing? / Don’t forget I am your home.” Think about the environment and the ways you can heal both the planet and yourself when listening to this timeless song.
