‘Bridgerton’ Renewed for Season Three and Four at Netflix
As production begins on season two of Shonda Rhimes’ hit Netflix series, Bridgerton, the streaming site renewed the Regency-era program for a third and fourth season. The news comes less than two weeks after the show’s social media sites confirmed that the first season’s male lead, Regé-Jean Page, would not be returning for the second season.
Bridgerton is a television adaptation of the Julia Quinn series of the same name that chronicles the eight Bridgerton siblings’ love lives. The show’s first two seasons follow the order of the first two novels, The Duke and I and The Viscount Who Loved Me. While unknown if the rest of the series continues in the books’ order, fans will see the love stories of Benedict Bridgerton (played in the show by Luke Thompson) and Colin Bridgerton (played by Luke Newton).

The upcoming season will center around Viscount Anthony Bridgerton (played by Jonathan Bailey). Joining his quest for the perfect loveless marriage is his sister, the Duchess Daphne Basset (played by Phoebe Dynevor), who will help him navigate society.
As with other announcements related to the series, news of the show’s double renewal came with a post from Lady Whistledown (the show’s anonymous gossip columnist voiced by Julie Andrews). After reporting the renewal, Whistldown left readers with only a statement saying, “This author shall have to purchase more ink.” Neither the series nor Netflix has released any further details.
