“You” is not a song that would typically align with these artists’ styles. Both are much better known for slower-paced music. Some of Sivan’s most recognized songs are “My My My!”, “FOOLS”, and “Strawberries and Cigarettes”. At the time of their release, these tracks matched pop music trends. However, much of Sivan’s fame has stemmed from collaborations with other artists such as Lauv and Kacey Musgraves. “You” was Sivan’s long-awaited comeback to the music industry after his EP “In a Dream” last August and his collaboration with Mark Ronson on his “Easy” remix.

Tate McRae is also well known for her ballads which include “you broke me first”, “r u ok”, and “rubberband”. She first appeared in the spotlight at age thirteen for her dancing skills after emerging as the first Canadian finalist on the show “So You Think You Can Dance”. She began producing music after signing with RCA Records in 2019. Since then her song “you broke me first” reached international audiences and marked her a spot on Forbes’ “30 under 30” list as the youngest musician to be featured.

In an interview with “L’Officiel” Regard spoke on working with both artists: “Working with Troye and Tate was unbelievable! They are both such professional artists and contributed so much, it was an honor getting to work with them. They have such a great work ethic and are so talented. I couldn’t be happier about how “You” turned out.” As of right now, Regard has not released any plans for the future except seeing how fans respond to “You” and is looking forward to post-Covid life. However, he has been nominated for Best British Single at the BRIT Awards for his single “Secrets”, a collaboration with RAYE.

There is still so much to anticipate for McRae and Sivan’s future. Recently, McRae was nominated for an iHeartRadio music award which will take place on May 27.
