Amazon Reveals First Look at New Series, ‘The Wheel of Time’
The brief teaser depicted Lan in simple clothing in a fight sequence making a swing with his sword. In voiceover, he says: “You think you know this world, you know nothing.”
Henney tweeted the clip, saying, “For [The Wheel of Time] fans who are waiting so patiently (and for future fans as well) – here’s a first look at al’Lan Mandragoran – the uncrowned King of Malkier. I’ve loved every minute playing him thus far & we’re working tirelessly to bring you a fantastic show – stay tuned!”
Fans are still awaiting the release of the official trailer for the show, but Amazon has dropped production videos introducing some of the main characters. Lan’s clip premiered almost a month after that of Moiraine Sedai, played by Rosamund Pike, who recently earned a Golden Globe for Best Actress in I Care a Lot, was the first to be cast on the Amazon series and plays a powerful member of the all-female organization known as the Aes Sedai.

The show is based on Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time fantasy book series originally published in 1990. Out of the fourteen novels, Jordan wrote the first eleven, while the final three were written by Brandon Sanderson after Jordan passed away in 2007.
According to CBR, “The series, which follows a group of young villagers coming to terms with their own powers while being drawn into a worldwide conflict, is set in a world in which only women can wield the magical One Power without losing their sanity. It became a cornerstone of modern epic fantasy, known for its unique worldbuilding and expansive scope.”
Henney and Pike will appear alongside Josha Stradowski, Marcus Rutherford, Zoë Robins, Barney Harris, Madeleine Madden, and Michael McElhatton. The Wheel of Time, written and executive produced by Rafe Judkins does not have a definitive premiere date yet, but fans are crawling with anticipation.
