Anitta Performs New Single ‘Girl From Rio’ on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’
Brazilian singer, Anitta, performed her new single “Girl From Rio” on May 4 on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Anitta is returning to her roots and bringing them to the stage.
As part of the Mercedes-Benz Concert Series, Anitta performed live from Miami at The Goodtime Hotel, bringing the vibes of Rio to the center stage. For her English-speaking fans, this song differs from the artist’s previous hit singles that incorporate the Spanish and Portuguese language. According to Billboard, “Girl From Rio” is sampled from the 1962 song, “Garota de Ipanema” (“The Girl From Ipanema”).
The song empowers Brazilian women to embrace all their curves and different body types. At the chorus, Anitta sings, “Hot girls, where I’m from, we don’t look like models/ Tan lines, big curves, and the energy glows/You’ll be falling in love with the girl from Rio.”
The singer announced via Twitter her upcoming performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! along with dates and times that it will air.
