Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Philanthropy on Their Son’s Birthday
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, celebrated their son Archie’s second birthday with a charitable donation. The couple gave 200 knit beanies to New Zealand women and children in need last week.
The family’s donation was made to the I Got Your Back Pack initiative, which works to provide survivors of domestic violence with resources as they search for refuge. The New Zealand non-profit wished Archie a happy birthday on Instagram and wrote, “We are so grateful to you for choosing us, these beanies will travel out next week to safe houses around NZ, including our own one here in Auckland.”
The Duke and Duchess’s donation to I Got Your Back Pack will help mothers and children who are escaping domestic abuse. According to People, the couple also purchased 100 beanies from Make Give Live this past December. Archie was seen wearing one of the pom-pom beanies with his father on the social enterprise’s Instagram.
Per Harper’s Bazaar, Harry and Meghan also held a donation drive to celebrate Archie’s birthday. They urged fans to donate to help people around the world gain access to the COVID-19 vaccines.
Fans showed their support on Twitter for the beanie donation and the call to action that the Duke and Duchess released on the Archewell Foundation website.
