A$AP Rocky Gets Candid About Dating Rihanna, Music, and Life
A$AP Rocky shared with GQ Magazine details about his typically private relationship with Rihanna, while also discussing life and music. The rap mogul has had a busy few years breaking into the fashion world and promoting new music – and being in love. Now, A$AP Rocky is on a journey of self-discovery and experimentation, with Rihanna by his side.

The rapper and style icon was first rumored to be dating Rihanna back in fall 2019, though the low-key couple kept their relationship the same way. But A$AP Rocky made it clear to GQ that their relationship is as strong as ever. The “Praise the Lord” artist called Rihanna “his lady” and the “love of his life,” melting hearts everywhere.
According to GQ, the couple spent most of 2020 traversing through the United States on a “Great American Road Trip.” From L.A. to Texas to NYC, A$AP Rocky and Rihanna visited national parks, blasted music through their tour bus, and spent time with one another.
“They’re not necessarily hiding the fact that they’re dating—they more so just don’t want people in their business,” a source explained to Vanity Fair. “They’re two chill people that don’t want that kind of attention, so they show up randomly to a spot and nobody really knows until afterwards.”

He even spoke about fatherhood and heritage, citing a recent trip to visit Rihanna’s family in Barbados. His father immigrated to America from the same island.
“I always imagined what it would be like for my dad, before he came to America. And I got to visit those places, and believe it or not, there was something nostalgic about it. It was foreign but familiar,” A$AP Rocky stated in GQ, before being asked if he’s ready to be a father. “Nah, but like, I think I’d be an incredible, remarkably, overall amazing dad. I would have a very fly child. Very.”
It’s clear from the interview that A$AP Rocky is already reflecting on his legacy. Back in 2019 when #FreeRocky trended and A$AP Rocky sat in a Swedish prison cell for charges stemming from a street fight, the rapper was thrust into the political sphere. He has since been changing his lifestyle, and aside from making music and finding love, the rapper has found a passion for fashion and clothing design.

A$AP Rocky posed for the GQ Body Issue in Chanel clothing and jewelry, also wearing clothing and jewelry from designers like Vivienne Westwood and Verdura. He made history as the first Black face of Dior, has collaborated with Calvin Klein and Gucci, and countless other labels since.
“The nails, the kilts, the pretty-boy swag, the pearls—I think it’s just being comfortable. I just express myself with fashion, and what’s fly is fly,” A$AP Rocky stated in GQ.
Chances are we won’t be hearing more about this couple anytime soon; they keep to themselves, after all. Though when A$AP Rocky and Rihanna stepped out for dinner in L.A. this past April, fans were overjoyed that the two were still together even after the pandemic.
