Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher Share the Inside of Their Luxury Farm-House
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have spent the last five years creating their dream home. The couple, who wanted a farm-style home, took to Pinterest to make their ideas come alive. “We wanted a home, not an estate,” stated Kunis as she talked about her 6-acre property that includes an entertainment barn customized with glass sliders.

With the help of interior designer Vicky Charles and architect Howard Backen, the two were able to make their dreams come true. Before they began to build their dream home the couple turned to Pinterest to create boards for ideas on how to build a home that satisfies both of their needs. “When we looked at each other’s boards, 90 percent of the images we selected were the same, and most of the houses we pinned were designed by Howard.” Kutcher recalls, referring to Backen of the AD100 firm Backen & Gillam Architects.

Kutcher compared Howard to a software designer as he talked about his ability to make their vision a reality. “Howard wants to get you where you want to be with the fewest doors and obstacles. He also knows that there are certain places where you want a barrier to mark a threshold and create a little friction,” Kutcher said.
Backen gave equal praise to the couple. “Ashton and Mila are two of the smartest, most inquisitive people we’ve ever worked with. We talked about everything from beam sizes to the details of the cross bracing to the junctures of the wood planks and concrete. These are not the kinds of conversations we have with every client.” Kutcher and Kunis were there every step of the way to ensure they were creating the perfect environment for their family.

The home is completely powered by photovoltaics, and even creates more solar energy than is needed for the home. Kutcher and Kunis are hopeful they are able to find ways where they can share their energy.
