In a press release, Disney announced the film would follow wisecracking skipper Frank Wolff (Johnson) as he travels through the Amazon on his ramshackle boat with intrepid researcher Dr. Lily Houghton (Blunt). Dr. Houghton is searching for an ancient tree with magical healing abilities that would change the future of medicine. The trailer shows the two characters in action.
While on their thrilling journey, the pair encounter supernatural creatures, treacherous waters, and enemy forces throughout the lush and beautiful forests. As Frank and Dr. Houghton uncover the lost tree and its powers, they come to realize that their fate and the world itself are at risk.

Disney also revealed new movie posters ahead of the Jungle Cruise release. Frank and Dr. Houghton appear in 1920s attire that gets dirtier as the journey goes on. And like any good journey, there seems to be tension brewing amidst a slew of smiling faces.
Starring alongside Johnson and Blunt are Edgar Ramírez, Jack Whitehall, Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti. Johnson himself is a producer of Jungle Cruise, along with John Davis, John Fox, Dany Garcia, Beau Flynn, and Hiram Garcia. Finally, the thrilling new Disney movie has Michael Green, Glenn Ficarra, and John Requa as its team of writers.
Jungle Cruise has been in production for nearly two years now, and its release is only two months away. Be sure to check out the latest trailer to get excited about the July 30 release.
