Michael Jordan Makes $1 Million Donation To Morehouse College
Michael Jordan announced a $1 million donation to journalism and sports-related studies at Morehouse College. The NBA legend is making big moves and helping other students earn their education.
The NBA legend is partnering with his Jordan Brand to donate the $1 million to Morehouse College. The donation is part of the brand’s #BlackCommunityCommitment that focuses on fighting systemic racism while focusing on aspects of social justice and racial education and awareness. A tweet from the official college’s Twitter page made the announcement.

Jordan’s act of generosity will help provide aid to journalism and sports-related students through scholarships, new technology, and educational programming. In a news release, Jordan mentioned, “Education is crucial for understanding the Black experience today. ‘We want to help people understand the truth of our past, and help tell the stories that will shape our future,” he said.
“Morehouse is grateful to Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand for an investment in the education of talented men of color who will ensure there is equity, balance, and truth in the way sports stories are framed and the way the Black experience is contextualized within American history,” said Monique Dozier, vice president for institutional advancement at Morehouse.
The school released a news recap on their Instagram page with an announcement of the donation. The news recap included information about the college being named an HBCU Institutional Leader by the Fulbright Program. Lots of positive reactions and comments were left on the Instagram page upon hearing the news.
This generation of young adults will help shape the future and determine their own legacy. Through leadership and philanthropic efforts, Morehouse College has presented roughly “80 graduates who now work in media and sports and almost 40 graduates who have earned master’s degrees in those fields,” the news release mentioned.
