Former Dance Moms star Nia Sioux has grown up and continues to take the industry by storm. She sat down with Entertainment Tonight to discuss her former work as well as her future endeavors.

Sioux was over the moon to discuss her new Facebook show, Dance With Nia, which Sioux and Brat TV produce. The series will feature dancers with disabilities and the obstacles they face. This is something Sioux has done for years with her Instagram segment, #RoleModelMonday.

The 19-year-old triple threat told the outlet, “I’m highlighting dancers who are just incredible, but highlighting their stories, their journeys, and … just highlighting the ableism that they face in the dance world and in the industry because we’re focusing on dancers who are disabled.”

She credits most of her exposure and endeavors to her 7-year run on the Lifetime series Dance Moms, which featured young dancers, their moms, and a strict coach as they navigate the competitive dance industry. This year will be the 10-year anniversary of the premiere, and Sioux looked back on her time on the series.

Despite some of the challenges that came with filming the show, Sioux is grateful for the experience and understands that she has such a large platform from the series. The current UCLA student said, “To be able to say that I did it, you know, it’s given me a great platform to do the things that I love now. Even though it was really challenging, and sometimes I don’t have the best things to say about it, but I do have to always give them credit for just getting me to the place where I am today. … I have a lot to thank for the show, and I will never take that for granted.”

While reminiscing on the past and looking towards the future, Sioux was asked about her dating life. Although she is busy being a total boss, she isn’t opposed to the thought of a partner. She mentions, “I’m truly happy how I am right now. If someone can add to my happiness that’s amazing, but having fun in my life won’t necessarily make me happy because I’m already happy, but it will add to my happiness.” However, she also noted that her DMs are open if anyone wants to slide in.

Nia Sioux gives props to her past for providing her with the opportunities she has now and plans to continue using her platform for good.

Dance With Nia premieres on June 4 on Facebook.
