Zauner has channeled the grief she has felt losing her mother to terminal cancer as both an author and musician. Her first two albums, Psychopomp and Soft Sounds from Another Planet, explore the many stages of grief. Although grief is different for everyone, Zauner hopes to have impacted those that are listening to her story.

Crying In H Mart: The Memoir has been picked up by Orion Pictures. The upcoming film will be produced by Stacey Sher and Jason Kim. Sher has been a part of many legendary films such as Matilda and Erin Brockovich. Kim has been a part of Midnight Runners and The Divine Fury. In having this film opportunity, Zauner expressed how fortunate she feels to be working with Sher and Kim. Zauner reveals, “It is a surreal thrill to have the opportunity to memorialize my mother in film, and I consider it of the highest honor to pursue that task alongside creative luminaries such as Stacey Sher, Jason Kim and Orion Pictures.”

In another exciting twist, Zauner is in charge of the music for the memoir-turned film. The film will not only focus on her mother’s tragic diagnosis but will also chronicle Zauner’s life in Oregon.

Zauner’s Crying In H Mart has no release date in sight, but until then, be sure to stream Jubilee on all music platforms. In addition, you can get your copy of Crying In H Mart here.
