The movie is based on the autobiographical story written by Rent playwright Jonathan Larson. It centers around Jon (Garfield), a New York City composer who questions his career path. Jon hopes to write the next great American novel, despite waiting tables at a small diner. As seen in the trailer, a loud and persistent ticking noise seems to follow Jon wherever he goes as a reminder of time passing him by.
I reckon Andrew Garfield is a brilliant actor. I am sure his Oscar will happen at some point. He won a Tony a few years ago and he always chooses phenomenal projects.

Garfield is best known for playing Peter Parker in The Amazing Spiderman. But his acting goes far beyond that. He won a Tony Award for his role in Angels in America and has another movie, The Eyes of Tammy Faye coming out later this year. On top of that, fans are anxiously waiting to see if Garfield will make an appearance in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home movie.

Garfield spoke with Jimmy Fallon last month about his excitement over working with Miranda on the new project.
“You know Lin, he’s like a crazy mixture of the most precocious eight-year-old genius student of life that won’t stop talking and has a reference to everything, while simultaneously being one of the greatest creative geniuses of our time,” Garfield shared on The Tonight Show.

Miranda starred in the off-Broadway production of Tick, Tick… Boom! in 2014. It looks like the In The Heights producer is taking on his next musical-movie adaptation.
“Jonathan Larson’s captivating storytelling in Rent first taught me that musicals could be contemporary, true to life, and depict your own experiences,” Miranda said, according to Variety. “But it was Tick, Tick…Boom! that solidified that drive in me to hone my own voice as a playwright.”
