K-pop juggernaut BTS breaks a new streaming record during their two-day concert series known as Muster, a play on words to refer to their pre-covid gatherings with A.R.M.Y.

The group celebrated their eighth birthday on June 13; this past muster made to be the grand finale of the annual week-long activity known as “Festa.”

This year’s theme SOWOOZOO is a unique romanization of the word “microcosm” coming from the track “Mikroksmos” from their sixth ep “Map of the Soul: Persona.” The song captures the fascination of recognizing human individuality and how each of our own worlds can parallel with the rest of the universe.

Over the course of two days, the online spectacle garnered 1.33 million paid viewers. Many more tuned in through streaming parties made for fans who could not afford a ticket.

The concert included performances of their No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hits “Dynamite” and “Butter,” as well as special stages of solo work from individual members.

The history behind Muster began at the Olympic Hall in Seoul on March 29, 2014, the first fan-meet the newly debuted group held. That venue had a capacity of three thousand, and we’re sure fans of 2014 Bangtan Sonyeondan would be shocked to see the growth the group has made over nearly a decade.

Compared to the two other online shows the group held in 2020– Bang Bang Con: The Live and Map of the Soul O: NE– BTS broke their own record with an extra 544 thousand streams from this recent performance.

While surpassing their own glass ceiling is nothing new for the group, the speed of this growth is well outside an average fan base. With cinematic level set design and eye-catching choreography, it’s no surprise the BTS Army continues to grow by the second.
