Mental health & happiness are great reasons for action, others can pick as money & prestige. Long-term wins to Osaka. pic.twitter.com/3SQUTQblht
According to ESPN, Osaka’s agent explained in a statement, “Naomi won’t be playing Wimbledon this year.” Osaka’s agent continued, “She is taking some personal time with friends and family. She will be ready for the Olympics and is excited to play in front of her home fans.” Osaka was expected to play in the 2021 Wimbledon tournament that takes place between June 28 and July 11.
I’m totally in support of Naomi Osaka. She said she doesn’t feel good, means she doesn’t feel good. She has to protect herself because at the end of the day, who else is going to do it for her?

Previously, the tennis player had withdrawn from the French Open that began in May. At first, Osaka announced she made a decision to not speak at the press conference during Roland-Garros for mental health reasons, but this caused controversy. Ultimately, Osaka thought it was the “best thing” to withdraw from the French Open entirely so that “everyone can get back to focusing on the tennis going on in Paris.” After leaving the French Open, Osaka also decided to withdraw from Berlin WTA 5000 grass-court tournament in order to take a break.

Looking to the future, Osaka is still participating in the Olympics that will take place in Japan, where she was born. You can catch Osaka playing tennis for the Tokyo Olympics this summer beginning on July 23.
