Prince Harry joined his brother, Prince William, to honor their late mother, Princess Diana, on what would have been her 60 birthday. The pair met at their childhood home, Kensington Palace, where a statue featuring their late mother was unveiled.

The statue was unveiled during an afternoon ceremony in the Sunken Garden of Kensington Palace, London, on July 1, where both members of the Royal Family presented a united front. Extended family, including the Duke of Cambridge’s and the Duke of Sussex‘s aunts and uncles, were in attendance.

A photo of the bronze Diana statue was shown in multiple news outlets, including People Magazine. The brothers released a joint statement at the unveiling ceremony saying, “Today, on what would have been our Mother’s 60th birthday, we remember her love, strength, and character – qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better.”

“Every day, we wish she were still with us, and our hope is that this statue will be seen forever as a symbol of her life and her legacy,” the speech continued. After the statement, the brothers thanked the donors and people involved in the project.

According to CNN, officials from the Kensington Palace released a statement discussing the intimate details and inspiration that went into the statue’s creation.

Kensington Palace said: “The figure of Diana, Princess of Wales is surrounded by three children who represent the universality and generational impact of The Princess’ work.”

“The portrait and style of dress were based on the final period of her life as she gained confidence in her role as an ambassador for humanitarian causes and aims to convey her character and compassion,” the palace statement read.

The Duke of Cambridge and the Duke Of Sussex may not always see eye to eye on things, but they both share an unconditional love for their late mother. People on Twitter captured the happy moments and smiles the brothers shared during the unveiling ceremony.

It is clear that Princess Diana was loved not only by her sons and members of the Royal Family but by people all over the world.
