‘Pokemon’ Live-Action Series Among New Netflix Projects
A Pokemon live-action series is in the early development stages at Netflix, according to sources at Variety.
The project has only recently been thrown on the idea board, so details on the plot are unavailable at this time. The current scoop is on who is involved in the series, a stand-out name being actor and executive producer Joe Henderson.
The “Lucifer” star is rumored to be the executive producer for the show, but the claims have yet to be confirmed by Netflix or Henderson’s team.
Henderson has also made a name for himself through his work on the USA Network drama Graceland and Hulu original series “11.22.63,” which follows a high schooler attempting to stop the Kennedy assassination.
After the success of the live-action 2019 film “Detective Pikachu,” which grossed over $430 million worldwide on a reported budget of $150 million, it is no surprise Netflix wants to continue entertaining this angle of ideas.

The streaming platform has made itself the epicenter for many Pokemon spinoffs, including “Pokemon: Indigo League,” “Pokemon Journeys,” and many more.

They have also tapped into anime production on their site, including a prequel to the three-season comedy series The Disastrous Life of Saiki K, as well as an upcoming Netflix original Splinter Cell.
Netflix has tackled live-action filmmaking in the past with their 2017 adaption of the Japanese manga Death Note.
The Pokemon franchise has continued to gain popularity as time passes, the momentum remaining high after the release of the addicting mobile game Pokemon GO in 2016.
