Billie Eilish Wows With ‘I’m in the Mood for Love’ Cover
Billie Eilish delivered a beautiful performance of “I’m in the Mood for Love,” a jazz song from 1935. Eilish was joined by her brother and collaborator, Finneas, who performed on the acoustic guitar alongside her. The two shared the stage on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, where they also performed songs off Eilish’s latest album, Happier Than Ever.
“I’m in the Mood for Love” was originally released in 1935 by composer Jimmy McHugh and Dorothy Fields with lyrics. Although Frances Langford had popularized the hit song, Eilish had instead decided to share her take on Julie London’s rendition of the classic. London had famously sung the song in 1955, twenty years after the song had initially been released. London’s rendition is arguably the most popular version, cementing the track to become the 1950s jazz staple.
Eilish and Finneas deliver a memorable performance, proving the brother and sister to be an unbeatable duo. Eilish’s vocals hypnotize the audience, and Finneas’ guitar playing skills shine through. The two are in total sync with one another, and it is a privilege to watch such talent.
Eilish and Finneas also shared “I Didn’t Change My Number,” “NDA,” and “Getting Older,” all tracks that appear on her latest album, Happier Than Ever. Her second studio album had recently been released on July 30, gaining widespread critical acclaim.
Billie Eilish and Finneas continue to amaze us with their performances. The two talented musicians are boldly reimagining a beloved jazz song, hoping to inspire a new generation to love the old songs, not just what is popular today.
