On Wednesday, August 11, Variety announced that The CW’s Powerpuff series lead, Chloe Bennet, is leaving the live-action show. Before Bennet’s exit, the 29-year-old American actress was set to play Blossom in the show.

According to Variety, a source told the magazine that Warner Bros. Television “wanted to extend Bennet’s option as they reworked the pilot.” Ultimately, the actress had decided to leave the show due to scheduling conflicts.

In the pilot, Blossom’s description for the series reads: “Though she was a spunky, conscientious, Little-Miss-Perfect child who holds several advanced degrees, Blossom has repressed kiddie-superhero trauma that has left her feeling anxious and reclusive, and she aims to become a leader again, this time on her own terms.”

Fans are now speculating that Chloe Bennet has schedule conflicts due to possibly having a role in the Disney+ series Secret Invasion.

In May, The CW announced that the Powerpuff Girls series called Powerpuff would be reworked after the network executives found that the pilot of the series is “too campy.” The CW CEO, Mark Pedowitz, stated, “The reason you do pilots is because sometimes things miss, and this was just a miss.”

Despite Bennet leaving the cast, Dove Cameron and Yana Perrault are still a part of the live-action show. Cameron will play the character Bubbles while Perrault is set to play the character Buttercup. Additionally, Donald Faison will play Professor Drake Utonium, and Nicholas Podany is set to be the villain Mojo Jojo.
