‘Squid Game’ Actor O Yeong-Su Makes History of Becoming the First Korean Actor to Win a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor
Squid Game actor O Yeong-Su made history at the 2022 Golden Globes. Yeong-Su took home the trophy for Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Miniseries, or Motion Picture for TV, making him the first Korean actor to win in that category.
Upon hearing about his win, O Yeong-Su stated on Netflix, “After hearing the news of the award, I told myself ‘I’m a decent guy,’ for the first time in my life. Not it’s no longer us within the world, but it’s the world within us….While embracing the scent of our culture and embracing the love for my family deep in my heart, I give thanks to everyone in the world. I hope you all live beautiful lives. Thank you.”

Netflix’s hit series, Squid Game, received other Golden Globe nominations such as Best Drama Series and Best Television Actor. The nominee in this category was actor Lee Jung-Jae, who played Seong Gi-Hun.
