Roberto Khoury, Neutrogena’s General Manager, stated that “More than 68 million BIPOC Americans face disparities in skin health education, access to expertise and product for all skin types and tones, which we at Neutrogena find simply unacceptable.”

To honor the Skin Heroes, Neutrogena selected five figures using their platforms to raise awareness toward skin equity. Additionally, these figures align with the company’s four core pillars: advocacy, education, expertise, and transparency.

Neutrogena chose Malone Mukwende for the advocacy category. Mukunda is the founder and creator of Hutano. Hutano is a social platform that empowers Black and Brown communities to discuss their skin health concerns.

Education

Filmmakers Sarah Jean Williams and Kyra Peters honor the education pillar. These two filmmakers create educational content in partnership with Neutrogena Studios to shed light on the importance of skin health. This content will be distributed across schools and other platforms.

Expertise

The expertise category spotlights Dr. Adeline Kikam. Dr. Kikam is a board-certified dermatologist and founded the Instagram page @brownskinderm, where she shares her knowledge about caring for Brown and Black skin.

Transparency

Neutrogena honors Sabrina Noorani for the transparency category. Noorani is the founder and CEO of ClearForMe. ClearForMe is a product discovery service that helps customers find ingredients and provides information.

Neutrogena will organize this initiative every year. Co-hosts Kerry Washington and Jennifer Gardner each serve as brand ambassadors for Neutrogena and share their own passion and advocacy for skin equity.
