Shop at Popular Black-Owned Business Telfar for Must-Have Items
No matter the occasion, Telfar carries staple products for everyone’s closet and has created several successful collections. From designer bags to tote bags to coin purses, Telfar has endless possibilities for everyone. This black-owned business has become a favorite brand that creator Telfar Clemens has made a name for, especially during Black History Month.
Native New Yorker Telfar Clemens launched his eponymous unisex brand Telfar in 2005. Known for its classic yet unique design, Clemes created a brand that advocates inclusivity. Telfar is known for its sleek bags that sell out in almost minutes. Celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Dua Lipa, and Swae Lee are fans of the Brooklyn-based brand.
Telfar has a wide selection of items – not just handbags. From coin purses to jewelry to apparel, customers have a wide variety of products to choose from. Clemens has made a great name for himself. He designed the beautiful outfits for Solange’s 2017 performance “An Ode To.” In addition, he hosted an exclusive event for New York Fashion Week in 2019 to celebrate Black History Month. The show featured 1,000 guests, a mosh pit for models, performances including Clemens himself.
In 2020, Clemens received the Accessories Designer of the Year and created the successful Telfar X Ugg collaboration. However, there’s more to the collection with the Olympics coming up. Clemens is releasing a Summer/Spring collection featuring unisex briefs, dual-logo T-shirts, and new Ugg boots. In addition, Telfar will design Liberia’s new Olympic uniforms.
Clemens takes inspiration from his background. He designed the uniforms while he was in Africa and looked at his surroundings when designing the outfits. “The garments tell the story of a journey of recognition — in which Telfar saw the roots of his design DNA all around him in the streets of a country with a history deeply entwined with America’s own,” Clemens and business partner Babak Radboy says.
