Chris Martin and Selena Gomez Take Viewers on a Surreal Trip in New Music Video, ‘Let Somebody Go’
Chris Martin and Selena Gomez pulled heartstrings in their newest music video for “Let Somebody Go,” taking viewers on an interdimensional trip.

The video is in black and white, starting with Martin and Gomez embracing. Soon after, the video flips upside down, the two releasing each other with tears streaming down their faces.
Throughout the music video, Martin and Gomez are separated and try to find their way back to each other. Towards the end, the duo is reunited, holding each other only to have Martin letting Gomez go. The video wraps up with Martin and Gomez holding each other.

In Oct., Martin sat down with Apple Music and explained how he wanted Gomez to sing the ballad with him.
“It’s just a really lovely ballad. And quite early on, we realized it needed a female counterpart to the vocal. And we were very grateful that when we asked Selena to sing on it, she was happy to do so.”

Martin continued by explaining the importance of collaborating with different artists.
“Collaborations, in general, are something that we’ve done more of recently. We never really used to do it before it’s become more interesting for us to work with other people from different parts of the world, different genres. It just adds color and character to the music.”

The song is about letting go of someone you love and Martin and Gomez’s soft yet powerful voices express the grief. The song is on Coldplay’s most recent album, Music of the Spheres.
