Olympic Gold Medalist Simone Biles and NFL Player Jonathan Owens Are Engaged
It’s official — Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles and her NFL player boyfriend Jonathan Owens announced their engagement. Biles took to Instagram this Tuesday to announce the news, captioning the photo, “THE EASIEST YES.” The post features Owens down on one knee, with an elated Biles smiling down at him.
The seven-part sequence shows the 26-year-old Texans’ safety trading his helmet for a dashing gray suit and the 24-year-old gymnast trading her leotard for a chic leather mini dress. Other photos in the post include the lovebirds sharing kisses, embracing one another, toasting glasses of champagne, and several close-ups of Biles’ dazzling oval engagement ring.
The gymnast also shared the big news on Twitter. “WOKE UP A FIANCÉE 💍💍😭” she tweeted to her 1.7M followers.

The world-class athletes met on the dating app Raya in March 2020 — and Owens had no idea who Biles was. “I just hadn’t heard of her,” he told Texas Monthly last June, “and when I told her that, that’s one of the things she liked.” The two became Instagram official in August 2020 and have been inseparable ever since.
The couple spent their first Valentine’s Day together last year, and from the sound of Owens’ Instagram caption, the pair found themselves engaged on their second one.
“Woke up this morning with a fiancée 💍❤️” his post reads on February 15. Owens claims Biles had no idea what was coming, which made the surprise all the more special. The biggest congratulations to the happy couple, we cannot wait to witness the wedding of the century.
