“If you could be on Rupaul’s Drag Race in Snatch Game,” Cox posed, “What celebrity impersonation would you do?” Garfield seemed taken aback by the question and needed a few moments to consider his options. “I am drawing a blank,” he exclaimed, “This is an unfair question to ask in a high-pressure, high-stakes environment!” After a few deep breaths and several words of encouragement, the Amazing Spider-Man star arrived at his answer.

“Meryl?” he suggested with his eyes squeezed shut.

Cox was delighted by his reply. However, she questioned if the award-winning actor could fill such big shoes. “You could do Meryl Streep on Snatch Game?” she inquired with a hint of skepticism. Garfield replied, “Why not? Let’s give it a try! She’s hilarious.”

Garfield’s ambitious response to Cox’s unexpected question was one of many memorable Oscars moments for the actor. From getting smooched by Jamie Dornan to taking selfies with Zendaya to throwing peace signs on the red carpet, the English actor’s Academy appearance is all anyone can talk about. In fact, he was the fourth most-mentioned celebrity on social media during the event.

Even though he didn’t win Best Actor for his portrayal of Jonathan Larson in the musical drama Tick, Tick…Boom!, Garfield’s night at the Dolby Theatre was one for the books. And who knows? Maybe his impersonation of Meryl Streep will be all it takes to nab him that Oscar.
