2NE1 Reunites at Coachella and Performs Hit Song
Famous K-pop group 2NE1 reunited after six years during 88rising‘s Head in the Clouds set at Coachella 2022 on the second night. After CL ended her solo performance, her former group members joined her to perform their hit song, “I Am the Best.”
2NE1, consisting of Bom, CL, Dara, and Minzy, disbanded in 2016. The queens of K-pop came together to sing their global hit “I Am the Best,” which they also performed at the 2018 Winter Olympics closing ceremony. Today, the hit song’s music video has over 315 million views.
The last time 2NE1 performed together was in 2015. After their disbandment, the quartet released their last song, “Goodbye.” The group came together again and shocked all fans. Not only did they sing “I Am the Best,” but they recreated their iconic stage aesthetic from when the song was first released. Dara joined her ex-members with her iconic tall y2k-inspired hair.
CL’s performance was a part of 88rising’s special set, Head in the Clouds, with Jackson Wang, Bibi, Milli, Niki, Rich Brian, Warren Hue, and Hikaru Utada. 88rising’s famous Head in the Clouds festival was recreated at Coachella. Their Coachella debut was widely recognized by fans all over the world.
Fans not only loved CL’s performance but were in absolute shock seeing 2NE1 all together again. Fans recognized that the Coachella 2022 performance mirrored their performance at the 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA). 88rising also posted a tweet of the queens of K-pop together. The tweet states, “We the best,” in honor of the song they performed at the festival.
