Thao Releases Unique New Cover of Björk’s ‘Human Behaviour’
In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Thao Nguyen is giving back. The “Ambition” singer released a stunning cover of Björk’s track, “Human Behaviour,” off the Icelandic singer’s 1993 debut album.
Thao teamed up with Sounds Of Saving (SOS), “a non-profit mental health organization and music/media brand dedicated to helping people find hope, connection, and relatable stories through music, and to providing psychoeducation and direct help in accessing affordable and culturally competent care and wellness resources.”

Thao, the lead singer and songwriter of Thao & the Get Down Stay Down, announced in October 2021 that her band was disbanding after almost a decade of making music together. After the crushing announcement, she embarked on her own solo career, releasing the soft rock tune “Ambition.”
In addition to the April release of “Ambition,” her decision to cover Björk came easily to the singer during her band’s separation. Thao shared in a statement:
“I chose Bjork’s “Human Behaviour” because to me it marks a renewal and a revival of my own interest in music, in my own recommitment to the joy of music. Growing up, most of the access to music I had was only the radio. I didn’t have an in to music that wasn’t easily accessible to me, you know? And so to choose a song that I don’t know that well by an artist that I don’t know that well, but whose energy and whose commitment and devotion to music is so well known, it was a great opportunity to embody the difference that I’m looking for.”
