Sharon Stone Reveals She Suffered Nine Miscarriages in the Past
Legendary Basic Instinct actress Sharon Stone publicly revealed her experience of having nine miscarriages. The revelation came just days before the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
On Friday, June 24, 2022, Americans experienced a rarity within the legal system and a detrimental and heartbreaking decision for women throughout the United States. The Supreme Court ruled in a 6-3 decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which was decided in 1973.
Months after the decision was leaked in early May, the Supreme Court judges decided to act on this reversal. As a result, many Americans have used social media to call on politicians for their egregious decision and tell personal stories.
It’s insane to think this would be happening in 2022! Truly have no words, so upset 💔#AbortionRightsAreHumanRights #mybodymychoice #AbortionIsHealthcare #AbortionBan #abortion @bravosuperfans pic.twitter.com/XLxDQjceSx

Correspondingly, many celebrities have done the same.
Under an Instagram post by PEOPLE for their story on “Dancing with the Stars,” participant Peta Murgatroyd and her husband Maks Chmerkovskiy, Stone left a powerful comment revealing her traumatic experience with miscarrying. The PEOPLE story informed readers on how Murgatroyd endured a miscarriage while her husband was in Ukraine, which she then revealed she had suffered twice before. Stone shared the grief with Murgatroyd in her comment.
“I lost nine children by miscarriage. It is no small thing, physically nor emotionally yet we are made to feel it is something to bear alone and secretly with some kind of sense of failure. Instead of receiving the much-needed compassion and empathy and healing which we so need,” Stone commented.
Stone took to Instagram and commented on the lack of care women receive after a miscarriage and the emotional trauma and little to no support offered to women. Stone called out the care of female health and wellness, criticizing the oppressive male ideology, stating it “has become lax at best, ignorant in fact, and violently oppressive in effort.”
This comment by Sharon Stone is one of many examples of celebrities responding and criticizing the unfolding events prior to and since June 24, 2022. This comment is also one of the many instances where Stone has discussed women’s rights to their bodies, including in an interview with BBC Radio’s Women’s Hour.
