Tomorrow X Together have been hinting at the collaboration with iann dior for quite some time now, but it wasn’t until July 11 that HYBE officially announced their joint single “Valley of Lies.”

Tomorrow X Together (more commonly referred to as TXT) is a five-member group with BigHit Music, a branch under HYBE Corporations, that includes Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Huening Kai. Ever since their debut in March 2019, they have been amassing fame from an international audience as company mates with the world-renowned boy group BTS. They have released seven comebacks and are currently on their first world tour, “ACT: LOVE SICK.” The boys’ busy schedule, however, does not stop them from continuing to work on a wide range of other music projects, such as their upcoming Japanese comeback, “Good Boy Gone Bad.”

Earlier this year, TXT worked with singer-songwriter Salem Ilese on the single “PS5,” which gained massive popularity across social media sites like TikTok. The group has been working with iann dior, a Billboard Top 100 artist for the hit single “Mood” alongside 24kGolden. TXT member Yeonjun even spoiled the collaboration through TXT’s TikTok account on July 5th. Fans were not anticipating the collaboration but were pleasantly surprised to see the group embark on a new collaboration.

“Valley of Lies” will be released on July 22, which TXT confirmed during their in-studio appearance on Good Morning America earlier this week. An unreleased version of iann dior’s song has already spread across the internet, but TXT’s company announced in a statement that it will be an “indie alternative” track that aims at speaking “about a lonesome journey that one takes towards the end of a relationship, along a trail of countless lies.”

Coincidentally, the message of this song parallels what the boy group has been attempting to convey through their own music. TXT’s latest title track, “Good Boy Gone Bad,” is a representation of angst after a tragic heartbreak. The b-side tracks on minisode 2: Thursday’s Child also reflect upon the different stages of leaving a loved one.
