Beabadoobee Releases New Cover of ‘Here’s Where The Story Ends’
Beatrice Laus, who performs under the stage name Beabadoobee, has shared a beautiful rendition of The Sundays’ song “Here’s Where The Story Ends” off their 1990 debut studio album, Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic.
On July 15, Beabadoobee released her second studio album, Beatopia. The singer is in full swing promoting her latest record and embarking on an extensive tour. Despite the hectic schedule, she visited SiriusXM for a live session to perform an acoustic version of “Here’s Where The Story Ends.”
The Sundays were an English alternative rock band fronted by Harriet Wheeler. The band formed in the late 1980s and disbanded in 1997. Apart from Wheeler, the group was also comprised of members Patrick Hannan, Paul Brindley, and David Gavurin. Their hit song, “Here’s Where The Story Ends,” was a success due to its dreamlike qualities.
Beabadoobee’s decision to cover such a beautiful song from the nineties was the perfect song choice. The singer cites The Sundays as one of her musical heroes. The indie band was an important group for the “Talk” singer when it comes to songwriting.
The singer’s debut album, Fake It Flowers, can be described as an “homage to 90s lo-fi rock.” On the record in her track, “Back To Mars,” she expresses what the dreamy song is about. She states, “I wanted an interlude moment in the album, something to kind of transition the mood to a darker, more personal point. I wanted it to feel very nostalgic. I’ve never been but I’ve always wanted to go to my boyfriend’s family’s house in France. I’ve seen pictures and it just looks so ethereal but so home-y at the same time? It just seems like a really peaceful place that would heal a lot of things.”
Although Beabadoobee is busy promoting Beatopia, the musician still took the time to pay homage to one of her musical heroes. Fans can watch both Beabadoobee and The Sundays sing “Here’s Where The Story Ends” below.
