Alexis Warr Is Your New So You Think You Can Dance Champion
Season 17 of So You Think You Can Dance was a season that no one thought would happen. After a two-year hiatus and quiet cancellation, America’s favorite dance show returned with one of the most competitive seasons yet.
After weeks of auditions, the Top 12 were revealed during the first competition show, where the dancers were paired up and fought to make a good first impression. Ballroom dancer Alexis Warr was paired with contemporary dancer Keaton Kermode. They closed out week one with an exquisite contemporary piece to Dermont Kennedy’s “Rome” choreographed by Talia Favia. Their piece left the judges and audience speechless and even brought judge Leah Remini to tears.
Our only concern after watching Alexis & Keaton’s performance is: HOW ARE THEY GOING TO TOP THIS!? 🤯 #SYTYCD

Judge tWitch called it the best routine of the night and stressed the importance of maintaining their momentum. They did just that. As dancers rotated partners and said goodbye to competitors, Keaton and Alexis found themselves dancing together once again but also competing against one another for the $100,000 grande prize and title of “America’s Favorite Dancer.”
Throughout the finale, Alexis and Keaton performed five routines in and out of their respective styles until their final jazz piece, choreographed by Brian Friedman, where the dancers were on a treasure hunt. How fitting?
After the final number, it was in the hands of the studio audience to decide the winner. With less than a few minutes to spare, host Cat Deeley joyfully announced that Alexis Warr was the new So You Think You Can Dance Champion. An emotional Warr expressed her gratitude for this experience, calling every week “a blessing.”

Warr has also made SYTYCD history as the first female ballroom dancer to win the show. A ballroom dancer has not won since Benji Schwimmer in season two, so, for Warr, this win is all the more exciting.
To simply sum it up, “Chasing your dreams is totally worth it,” as Warr stated. To relive the magic of the season 17, So You Think You Can Dance finale, you can watch it here.
