Tom Holland Is Taking a Break from Social Media
On Saturday, Tom Holland announced that he is stepping away from Instagram for his mental health.
The Spider-Man: No Way Home actor told his followers, “I have taken a break from social media for my mental health because I find Instagram and Twitter to be overstimulating, to be overwhelming.” He continued by stating, “I get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online and ultimately it’s very detrimental to my mental state, so I decided to take a step back and delete the app.”
Holland also encouraged fans to check out ‘Stem 4‘, a mental health charity that offers resources for teenagers who suffer from anxiety, depression, self-harm, eating disorders, and addiction. Representing The Brothers Trust, his organization with his brothers, he told fans his charity “is extremely proud to support and…shine a light on their fantastic work.”
“There is an awful stigma against mental health and I know that asking for help and seeking help isn’t something we should be ashamed of but it is something that is much easier said than done,” the 26-year-old stated. “So hopefully these apps can be your first steps towards being happier and healthier.”
Celebrities like Justin Bieber and Kyle Harvey supported Holland’s social media hiatus by commenting, “Love you man ❤️” and “love you dude.”
This is not the first time the actor is taking a break from social media. He previously declared that he was “going to be taking a short break from Instagram” in 2019. His girlfriend, Zendaya, also previously took a break from social media.
At Glitter, we support mental health breaks and understand that everyone needs to take time for self-care. We wish Tom the best during his social media hiatus and can’t wait to see what additional accomplishments his acting career holds.
