Meghan Markle Reveals Details of Her New Life In Variety Interview

Gracing the newest cover of Variety, Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, gives fans a new glimpse into her life. In the cover story, Markle discusses mourning Queen Elizabeth, her Archetypes podcast, and balancing post-royal life with motherhood. 

Before her romance with Prince Harry catapulted her into the spotlight, Markle starred in USA’s legal drama, Suits. The former actress dated the Duke of Sussex for two years before their wedding in May 2018. Since then, the couple has welcomed two children: Archie Harrison in 2019 and Lilibet Diana in 2021. 

In 2020, the couple announced they would be stepping back from their royal duties. Meghan and Harry then relocated to California with their son, Archie, before welcoming Lilibet the following year.

Since then, the family has begun to create their empire. Their co-owned organization, Archewell, has secured deals with Netflix and Spotify. Markle’s new podcast, Archetypes, falls under the audio sector of Archewell.

Archetypes‘ first season features the Duchess of Sussex interviewing prominent female figures. Markle’s goal with the podcast was to bring awareness to the stories her guests were willing to tell.

After interviewing Paris Hilton, Markle adjusted her preconceived notions about the celebrity. She claimed “I told her at the beginning that I was the most nervous about her interview. I was embarrassed to admit it, but I’ve had a judgment about her that’s based on everything I’ve seen, and I don’t like to come from a place of judgment.”

The Duchess stated her intention with the podcast is to reveal the humanity behind these female figures. The objective of her podcast is to have “a candid, real conversation with them. I’m talking to some really textured, colorful, layered, dynamic women with strong histories.”

Ever since Markle left the monarchy, many fans have questioned if she would ever return to acting. Her role in Suits was her last time acting since her marriage. When asked about her return to the field, she answered “No. I’m done. I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not.”

Although she is not coming back to the big screen anytime soon, she is still planning on releasing creative projects of her own. Meghan has been collaborating with Prince Harry and Liz Garbus on a docuseries. The series will tell Markle and Prince Harry’s story and be produced by Archewell.

In addition to speaking about her recent successes, the Duchess also discussed the passing of Queen Elizabeth. Markle reflected on her positive first meeting with the Queen and described how the late monarch is “the most shining example” of female leadership.
