Dave Chappelle’s New Comedy Show Features Audience Booing Elon Musk
Dave Chappelle surprised his audience by bringing out Elon Musk during his show Sunday night at the Chase Center. It is safe to say that the crowd was not pleased with his appearance.
Comedian, Dave Chappelle, announced his special guest as the “richest man in the world” before receiving a not-so-kind welcome. The crowd loudly booed at the multi-billionaire who had recently made some unfavorable comments and decisions concerning his new ownership of Twitter. Musk enacted several cost-cutting measures once becoming the owner of Twitter last month.
On November 2, one significant change was the decision to lay off over half of Twitter’s workers, resulting in many former employees suing. The other half had to agree to work under “extreme hardcore” conditions. Although those conditions were not specified, the news has brought extreme public outrage, with many taking to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction.
Deeply unfair one has to buy a Dave Chappelle ticket in order to boo Elon Musk. That should be the main act, no opener

Consequently, the Tesla CEO was met with an unpleasant welcome from the large San Francisco crowd. Once making his way on stage, Musk exclaimed Chappelle’s famous Rick James Impression, “I’m rich B****h,” which the group followed with boos lasting for several minutes. After several jokes about Musk not caring about the crowd’s reaction to his surprise appearance, Chappelle tried to make light of a tense situation, joking, “sounds like some of those people you fired are in the audience.”
A video posted on Twitter also shows Chappelle, who has also found himself in the hot seat for offensive transphobic jokes he made in his Netflix stand-up special, “The Closer,” coming to Musk’s defense. “All these people that are booing, I’m just pointing out the obvious — they have terrible seats in the stadium.” At the end of the night, in an attempt to end on a positive note, the comedian made a final statement, “Booing is not the best thing you can do.” He continued, “I wish everybody in this auditorium the joy of feeling free, and may your pursuit of happiness set you free. Amen.”
