Adele instantly became a meme after a video of her supporting Rihanna at her Halftime show went viral on Super Bowl Sunday.

Adele shared the world’s excitement for Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime performance at last night’s Super Bowl. She is notoriously a Rihanna fan – in a short but heartfelt Time essay written five years ago, Adele describes her as an “icon” who is “gracious, loyal, and funny.” A recent tweet of the singer at a Las Vegas show reveals her telling a fan that she will attend the game “just to see Rihanna.”

As promised, at the annual Super Bowl, Adele glamorously made an appearance in a Fenty suit to support Rihanna. Donned in oversized sunglasses and a Birkin, the star seemed fabulously unbothered by the football game – until Rihanna took the stage, of course. A video of Adele playfully shushing the audience has gone viral as many commended her for her support and relate to her excitement.

Adele has historically supported singers of color in the industry in a variety of ways. She supported Beyoncé’s Black is King in 2020, and even shared her Grammy with her in 2017 out of love and appreciation. According to Elle Magazine, just last week, Adele and Lizzo sat together at the Grammys and spent the night together sharing drinks as friends.

But Adele was not the only star at the Super Bowl last Sunday. Jay-Z, who has collaborated with Rihanna on hit songs such as Umbrella and Run This Town, made an appearance at the game with his daughter Blue Ivy. Model Cara Delevingne attended the game wearing a t-shirt with the words “Rihanna Concert Interrupted By A Football Game, Weird But Whatever” to show her support for the singer.

Other celebrities, including Lebron James, Kevin Heart, Paul Rudd, Bradley Cooper, Billie Eilish, and Paul McCartney were also photographed in attendance, according to a Page Six article.

Fans can watch the Rihanna halftime show on YouTube, and stream the artist’s music on Apple Music or Spotify.
