The film, Fred and Ginger, has finally found a home. After the project was slated to begin at Amazon, Black Bear and financier 30West (The Triangle Of Sadness) are officially on board. Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) and Margaret Qualley (Maid) will embody the role of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers respectively.

The Hollywood icons appeared together in a whopping ten films from 1933-1949. The films include Flying Down to Rio, The Gay Divorcee, Roberta, Top Hat, Follow the Fleet, Swing Time, Shall We Dance, Carefree, The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle, and The Barkleys of Broadway.

The film will focus on a “life-defining point in their early careers when their contrasting dance styles and competitive rivalry threatened to destroy their legendary partnership.”

Producer Fred Berger states of Bell and Qualley’s casting, “Margaret and Jamie were born to portray this legendary dance duo… We’re so excited to give people a big joyous event – brimming with spectacle and heart – that will leave you smiling, crying, and dancing out of the theater.”

Bell quickly established himself as a dancer when he was cast as Billy Elliot in 2000. Before fans fell in love with Qualley as an actress, she used to be a trained ballet dancer. It came as no surprise that she delivered a stunning performance as the legendary Ann Reinking for FX’s Fosse/Verdon.

We cannot be any more excited to watch Jamie Bell and Margaret Qualley dance on the silver screen. Fred and Ginger is slated to begin production later in the year.
