Jennifer Coolidge takes on the role of a sci-fi superhero in a photoshoot directed by the famous Daniels duo for the newest W Magazine Directors Issue.

Jennifer Coolidge transforms into a superhero in eccentric, attention-grabbing attire. This W Magazine photo series directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, aka Daniels, is inspired by tokusatsu, a genre of Japanese cinema. TV Tropes defines tokusatsu as “any live-action sci-fi/fantasy media that makes use of special effects.”

In the photoshoot, Coolidge’s superhero self fights an extraterrestrial invasion on earth. Scheinert places himself in multiple captures throughout the series, embodying one of the very extraterrestrials that she takes down.

Coolidge is famous for her comedically eccentric roles. At the moment, she’s at the center of Hollywood after her amazing performance in The White Lotus. As the only recurring actor between the two seasons, viewers can’t help but fall in love with her character, Tanya. The hotel-hopping, luxurious yet reckless lady is oddly endearing.

The star is taking over television awards this year, winning Critics Choice Awards, SAG Awards, and Golden Globes. She brings smiles and laughter to anyone who sees her on screen. And when she’s not acting, she doesn’t lose any of her charisma.

The Daniels are an incredible directing duo, from music videos to feature films. Recently, Everything Everywhere All At Once showcases their most outstanding cinematic work to date. The film is now A24‘s highest-grossing movie and has won numerous awards since its 2022 release.

Although Daniels has created mesmerizing photographs of the actress, they have never worked with Coolidge before the shoot. “But of all the people who are having a moment right now, she felt like someone exciting to put on the cover of a magazine,” Kwan tells W Magazine. Coolidge doubted them at first, sharing a Tweet expressing that she thought they picked the wrong person. But seeing these photos just proves that the duo’s vision was nothing short of perfect.

Out of all the roles Coolidge takes on in Hollywood, her outlandish superhero persona beats them all. “I don’t know if I will ever be this surprised again,” Coolidge tells W Magazine, “It was one of the best things I have ever been involved in.”
