Julianne Hough Set to Co-host the New Season of Dancing With the Stars
Julianne Hough is returning to the dance floor, but she’s leaving her dance shoes behind in favor of a microphone. The two-time Mirrorball-winning pro is set to co-host season 32 of Dancing With the Stars.
The announcement came shortly after Tyra Banks’ shocking departure announcement just a few days ago. While stopped on the street by TMZ, Banks mentioned that it was time to part ways with the show to focus on her SMIZE & Dream Ice Cream, which she plans to bring to the United States soon.
The former host stated, “I feel it’s really time for me to focus on my business and my entrepreneurship and also focus on producing more TV but behind the scenes. So, you know what, I think, I think it’s time for me to graduate from the dancefloor to the stock market floor.”
Banks took over Tom Bergeron’s hosting position throughout the past three seasons. Although fans were devastated to see Bergeron go, Banks had some moments for the books, like when she ate a chicken wing on air after Shangela pulled it out of her costume. Nonetheless, Banks wishes all the best to the series that she has watched from the start.
Julianne ICON. She will be giving us look after look and i am ready for it 💙 from pro to judge to host, an all encapsulating DWTS legend. pic.twitter.com/NpyzQ2sqdv— Lucas 🍂 (@DWTSDisney) March 20, 2023
Moving forward, Alfonso Ribiero, who manned the skybox last season, will now fulfill Banks’ position as the main host. Hough will now take her mark in the skybox and conduct the post-performance interviews this season. Fans believe this is the best decision being the fact that she has a vast dance terminology vocabulary and can go more in-depth when it comes to judges’ feedback.
Julianne is SUCH an obvious answer to the DWTS cohosting question, and I don’t think any of us even thought of her hahaha— Hannah (@evansbersten) March 20, 2023
In a statement to Variety, Julianne Hough stated, “It is such an honor to be rejoining ‘Dancing with the Stars’ as co-host. The show holds such a special place in my heart from the many years and different roles I have had the privilege of being a part of.”
“The incredible team that brings the ballroom to life every night has been my family for the past 17 years. I am so excited to reunite with Alfonso, Carrie Ann, Bruno, Derek, the unbelievably talented pros, and the amazing cast on the dance floor. The energy is magnetic every time you step foot into the ballroom, and I can’t wait to feel it again — and, of course, to share it all with the absolute best and most loyal fans — for another exciting season,” she continued.
Season 32 of Dancing With the Stars is set to premiere later this year, only on Disney+.
