New Music From Rina Sawayama for John Wick: Chapter 4, ‘Eye for an Eye’
Rina Sawayama has released a new song for John Wick: Chapter 4. The “Frankenstein” singer is making her acting debut in the successful action franchise.
After it was revealed that Sawayama was cast in Chad Stahelski’s fourth installment of the John Wick films, many were left wondering if the singer would also have a part in the film’s score. The British-Japanese singer announced a new single titled “Eye for an Eye,” and fans get to hear it as the credits roll. The John Wick: Chapter 4 score was penned by Tyler Bates and Joel J. Richard.
Sawayama is embodying the role of sword-wielding fighter, Akira Shimazu, starring opposite Keanu Reeves in the titular role. In addition to Reeves and Sawayama, Bill Skarsgård (Barbarian), Laurence Fishburne (The School for Good and Evil), and the late Lance Reddick (Legend of Vox Machina) are some of the supporting cast members.
The singer rose to prominence after releasing her debut studio album, SAWAYAMA, in 2020. After making her debut late-night interview appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she revealed that both Stahelski and Reeves wanted to offer her a part after viewing the music videos to “XS” and “Bad Friend.” She recalls, “Keanu and I were so impressed because clearly, you do stunts. And clearly, you can act.” She decided that her music videos would also become a part of her acting portfolio.
Stahelski has given Sawayama rave reviews for her performance. He states, “I’m so glad to have Rina on board to make her feature film debut in John Wick: Chapter 4. She’s an incredible talent who’ll bring so much to the film.”
Congratulations to the talented cast and crew of this beloved action franchise. John Wick: Chapter 4 arrives in theaters on March 24. The film’s score will also be released on the same day.
