Full House was a sitcom that ran from 1987 to 1991. The series became a staple for many Americans and launched the career of stars like John Stamos and the Olsen twins. Stamos embodied Uncle Jesse and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen portrayed Michelle Tanner. The twins switched off embodying Michelle during the series run due to their young age.

Stamos recently revealed on the Good Guys podcast that he once had the Olsen twins fired from the series. Stamos explained the situation which sent him over the edge, a scene with the twins and Dave Coulier. Stamos shared that they were “carrying the baby downstairs, and we take her in the kitchen, and we hose her down. And she was screaming. Both of them. They wanted to be anywhere else but there, and so did I.”

He furthered, “They were 11 months old, and god bless them. They kept switching: ‘This one’s not gonna cry.’ I couldn’t deal with it. And I said, ‘This is not gonna work,’ and I screamed it 10 times. I said, ‘Get rid of them, I can’t work like this.’ And so they got rid of them.”

Stamos then detailed that the Olsen twins’ replacements were “two redhead kids.” He noted, “I’m sure their parents loved them and thought they were attractive… It had nothing to do with [them being] redheaded, but they weren’t attractive.”

This switch was only temporary, as filming continued without the Olsen twins for “only a few days.” After those days, however, Stamos had had enough. He exclaimed, “Bring the Olsens back! These kids are terrible.” He summarized the situation, explaining, “We tried the other kids, it didn’t work.”

Fans of the series online have had a mixed reaction to Stamos’ admittance. Some were confused by Stamos’ annoyance regarding crying babies, as that is a common occurrence. Others just made memes about the situation.

For fans of Full House, the beloved sitcom is streaming on HBO Max. The sequel, Fuller House, is streaming on Netflix.
