Olivia Rodrigo Dons a Darling New Look at This Year’s MET Gala
Olivia Rodrigo hit the MET Gala carpet with a look that was anything but brutal. Rodrigo followed the “In Honor of Karl” theme with a darling gown and Old Hollywood hairstyle.
The “deja vu” singer wore an outfit designed by Thom Browne, who also dressed Jenna Ortega, Janelle Monae, Teyana Taylor, Bella Ramsey, and Baz Luhrmann. The top of the dress featured an array of black and white flowers, beautifully framing the top. On the other hand, the second half of her dress is a simple vertical black-and-white pattern, contradicting yet complimenting the top.
Rodrigo’s hairstyle initially shocked fans as it is a complete 180 from the long brunette locks we’re used to seeing. Instead, she channeled Old Hollywood actress Audrey Hepburn with a bun in the center of her head, making it nearly invisible so her “micro bangs” could take center stage – or carpet.
Bringing the entire look together was her soft and subtle makeup look, courtesy of YSL. Contrary to last year’s wavy hair and smokey eye, Rodrigo chose a simple winged liner and berry-colored lip this year, reminiscent of Breakfast at Tiffany’s and approved by Blair Waldorf.

In an Instagram post, the singer posted a photo of her on the carpet and simply captioned it, “thank u @voguemagazine @thombrowne for a beautiful night🦋” Rodrigo’s comments were met with excitement and adoration from friends like Conan Gray, who commented, “little audrey.”
She hit the carpet later in the evening, giving fans enough time to fawn over her current look and keep them guessing about her look for the coveted after-party. She attended Janelle Monae’s after-party at the Boom Boom Room in NYC.
Rodrigo’s long brunette hair returned for the after-party as she slipped out of her long gown and into a short 1994 Chanel archival dress. Once again, fans loved her vintage outfit, which seamlessly fit into her SOUR era, and once again, fans loved it.

Although a bit quiet on the music front since her debut album in 2021, Rodrigo has teased that she will be back with more music later this year, and if this look is any indication of what this new album may sound like, it should be an exceptional one.
