Sharon Van Etten wrote the closing song to Celine Song’s incredible film, Past Lives. Grizzly Bear’s Daniel Rossen and Christopher Bear composed the film’s score.

Van Etten took to Twitter to thank Song for giving her the chance to be a part of such a beautiful and meaningful film. She added that it was an “honor” to be asked to write “Quiet Eyes” alongside Zach Dawes for the A24 film.

The “Like I Used To” singer delivered nothing but praise to Song and her filmmaking, writing, “The idea of past lives, who I used to be, what I could have been, people I lost touch with, parts of myself I lost along the way… is a beautiful, intangible, relatable concept that Celine Song so gracefully explores in her story, Past Lives.”

Van Etten asked her friend and collaborator, Zach Dawes, to contribute to “Quiet Eyes.” She revealed that their original song is an “attempt at embodying the innocence of youth, mourning of loss, and acceptance of the present. Memories. Love. Friendship.”

A synopsis of the film states, “Nora and Hae Sung, two deeply connected childhood friends, are wrestled apart after Nora’s family emigrates from South Korea. Two decades later, they are reunited in New York for one fateful week as they confront notions of destiny, love, and the choices that make a life, in this heartrending modern romance.”

The film stars Greta Lee (Russian Doll), Teo Yoo (Love to Hate You), and John Magaro (Not Fade Away). Although the film is only currently playing in select theaters, it has gone on to receive rave reviews so far.

Song’s Past Lives is quickly proving to be another A24 smash. Fans can see the film at select theaters now. “Quiet Eyes” is available to stream and watch below.
