Madonna Postpones New Tour, Hospitalized With Bacterial Infection
Madonna was hospitalized for several days with a “serious bacterial infection,” postponing her upcoming world tour.
The pop singer developed the infection on June 24 and was sent to the ICU. Her manager, Guy Oseary, revealed the update on Instagram. According to his June 28 post, she is expected to recover soon.
“Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care,” he stated. “A full recovery is expected.”
Also on June 28, the singer’s close friend Rosie O’Donnell shared a picture of her and Madonna via Instagram. Her caption read, “shes feeling good,” followed by a thumbs-up emoji and “#madonna #love” to bring positivity to the sudden development.
However, Madonna’s upcoming commitments will be on hold, according to Oseary’s post. This includes her world tour, “The Celebration Tour.”
“We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows,” he stated.
The 64-year-old singer’s tour was scheduled to kick off in Vancouver on July 15. “The Celebration Tour” includes 84 shows in North America and Europe before finishing on January 30 in Mexico City. With the recent development, it is likely these dates will be pushed back.
“The Celebration Tour will take us on Madonna’s artistic journey through four decades and pays respect to the city of New York where her career in music began,” her website states.
Fans have flooded social media all week to show her love and support during this difficult time.
