Following Seven Years of Marriage, Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello Look To Divorce
After seven years of marriage, Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello have decided to go separate ways and will be filing for divorce.
In an exclusive statement with Page Six, the couple revealed they have “made the difficult decision to divorce.”
The couple further added that they “love and care for each other very much,” and are asking for privacy during this time.
The beloved Modern Family star was recently spotted in Italy celebrating her 51st birthday with a group of friends. However, Vergara was seen without Manganiello or a wedding ring on her finger. Fans of Vergara were quick to notice Manganiello’s absence from the birthday celebrations, with many commenting on the actress’ Instagram posts asking about Manganiello’s whereabouts.
Although her now-estranged husband did not make an appearance at the birthday festivities in Italy, he kept things classy with an Instagram post wishing Vergara a happy birthday with a caption written in Spanish.
The couple has been married since November 2015, when they had a Palm Beach ceremony in front of 400 guests. The lavish wedding included a custom Zuhair Murad Couture wedding dress worn by Vergara and a guest list featuring plenty of the couple’s famous friends including Modern Family co-stars, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Sarah Hyland. In celebration of their seventh anniversary, Vergara took to Instagram to share her love for Manganiello with a series of photos from the couple’s wedding.
Before meeting Manganiello at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in 2014, Vergara was engaged to businessman Nick Loeb. Manganiello reached out to Vergara a few weeks after her split with Loeb. Although this is Manganiello’s first marriage, he is Vergara’s second husband. The actress has a 31-year-old son named Manolo with her first husband Joe Gonzalez.
Prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike, Manganiello had been busy filming a new movie, Nonnas, on the East Coast. Vergara is currently enjoying her last few days of vacation in Italy.
