The hit Wham! single “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go” has reached 800 million streams on Spotify. It follows close behind the infamous “Last Christmas,” which sits at a whopping 1 billion streams.

The popular 1984 Wham! hit, “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go,” has effectively stood the test of time. The single’s catchy melody, danceable beat, and uplifting lyrics continue to enchant listeners. It has become a timeless classic that speaks to people across generations, and it’s no surprise that it has achieved such an impressive milestone.

There didn’t seem to be much excitement about the achievement because the band was popular in the 80s. Some Twitter users were confused about who the iconic duo was.

There are some fans that reminisce the old days and continue to support Wham! after they disbanded.

George Michael, being the more successful of the duo, went on to achieve a solo career until his untimely death in 2016. Andrew Ridgeley released a few songs of his own before turning to acting, and then eventually stepped out of the spotlight.

The two eventually clashed due to George Michael having creative differences and wanting to release more mature music for fans. Despite the duo’s disbandment in 1986, their official Spotify account had released an album of their greatest hits; The Singles: Echoes from the Edge of Heaven
